ジェヒョンは10日午後6時、各種オンライン音楽サイトを通じてニューシングル「99 Degrees」をリリースします。2024年10月に発表したデジタルシングル「Unconditional」から約1年9ヶ月ぶりの新曲であり、今年5月の除隊後初めての楽曲です。
「99 Degrees」は、ジェヒョン自身が作詞・作曲に参加したバラードです。繊細なピアノの旋律から始まり、徐々に豊かな楽器のサウンドで感情を積み上げ、温かいボーカルだけが残って深い余韻を届けます。ジェヒョンの柔らかくも力強い声質が、楽曲の雰囲気を一層濃くしています。
ジェヒョンが歌うのは、相手を通じてようやく完成する愛の本質です。彼は完璧を追い求めるよりも「We wanna be flawless / But all the flaws are part of our love」と、互いの欠点までも愛の一部として受け入れます。だからこそ「Girl, this love is 99 degrees / Leave the 1, we still got all we need」とささやくのです。

同時に公開されるミュージックビデオでは、ジェヒョンが映画館や仕事部屋など、思い出の詰まった場所を歩きながら過去を振り返ります。いつも完璧を追い求めていた過去から、不完全ささえもそのまま受け入れて前に進みます。愛からさらに一歩進んで人生を見つめ、これから一緒に歩む人たちに慰めを届けるかのように。
